Oh crap, I wish I'd been able to plan for this earlier - I pretty much filled up most of my weekends; and I won't be available in December at all! I could maybe spring for train tickets on this weekend - 28th to 30th November - but I'd need to book ASAP.

Any chance we could meet up in the Midlands? Just putting it out there. :D I can definitely come down for an entire Saturday if that was the case.

Oh, also - Friday the 21st November would work for me if the meetup was in the daytime. I'm going for a concert at night!

Maybe we could have a few small gatherings instead of one massive one if that proves too hard to coordinate?

Yeah, weekends can fill up. Most of my stuff is slightly fluid in that I could switch some things around now if we get the dates figured out, but this definitely needs dates soon. >.>

And I can only speak for myself, but I couldn't do midlands. I went with London for the poll because 1) it's near me and 2) easier to get to for people not in the UK. Doing a meet up sometime somewhere else in the UK can totally happen sometime. Just as I'm not there, I wouldn't want to try and step up and organize it.

Can you wait a short bit? The poll's been filled out by three people atm, so it is possible the preferred/working weekend could shift. And I know of at least that many more people who were potentially interested in doing it. I'd hate for you to splurge and then tons of people go "Lets do it this other weekend."

I'll be here about a year total atm that I know of. If I really like it, I may try to come back more permanently. =)

Yep, I'm definitely going to wait a bit - I'm not much for impulsive buys. Haha. I'm just saying I'd be willing to buy tickets if other people show interest. Though actually, I do have another friend who's visiting London that weekend too, so even if this doesn't work out, I'd still have a reason to go. ...And anyway, there's ALWAYS a reason to go to London anyway! :P

YAY, thingy!

I'm getting started on planning out my last two months here. I'm almost definitely planning on hitting the ThoughtBubble convention in Leeds, and I think that's 13-16 (hm, got it wrong on the poll). And the 31s of October, I'll be seeing Neil Gaiman, but I'll probably be grand for any other days.

I remember talk of doing it in Birmingham to make it easier, but...I realised a few weekends back that I kind of hate trying to find my way around that city. At any rate, my plans are still pretty fluid for right now.

Refill out the poll! =) I iz semi lazy but having numbers to look at makes things easier. I'm still trying to decide between doing a second poll between two or three weekends or just trying to choose the one that works best for everyone 'cause I'm not sure how keen people will be on a second poll. >.> But woo Neil Gaiman. Yay! I'm reasonably flexible, as long as I'm not drowning in coursework/have enough notice to rearrange a few commitments, so the 21st/30th sort of time sounds fine. And honestly I'm flexible as well on lodging arrangements, but really would need it to be fairly cheap otherwise I'll have to commute home, which is fine but then begs the question of why I'm going home for the weekend but not seeing my parents like, at all, etc.

But really, in short: yay!

Also, I said I'll need a hotel/hostel but that might not be true; I'm just a 50-minute train ride from London. It depends how long we're meeting up for, I think, hotel prices, and if a bunch of people are together (like cons, even if it were in my own city, I'd stay in a hotel, probably, so as not to miss the experience, drunken nights, and fun sleepovers!).

If people aren't doing any of the above necessarily, I have a floor in my dorm room to offer 1 person in Brighton, just a train ride (maybe 1 or 2 switches?) from London, very easy to get to and ~free~. lol

Yay meetup! I clicked the "close enough" option because it's unlikely I'd be able to come down for a full weekend - only a day :/ But I am totally up for this. :)

ERm, I am a lameface who has limited net ATM so only just found this!

Anyway I live in zone 2 of london, and have no solid plans at the moment for the weekend of 21-23 NOV. (guess I do now!)

I can also provide crash space for 2 comfertabley, or more if people don't mind getting cozy. There are also really good connections for central london from here (New Cross) inlcluding night busses, so if we stay out late it is posible to get back, or people can come to mine to drink and get back to their hotel/hostels etc.

I finish work at 6 on the friday and I am at work on the monday, but I am free for the in between :)
